Egbengwu Water Project
Egbengwu Water Project (EWP) is a community-based project focused on providing clean, potable water to each of the eleven villages in Egbengwu Nimo. The main objectives of the water project are to:
- Eradicate/Alleviate sicknesses caused by water-borne diseases,
- Provide clean, potable water readily to villagers
- Eliminate the task of searching for potable water especially during the dry season.
A water project will be constructed in each of the eleven villages in Egbengwu, Nimo. Each water project site will be equipped with:
- Drilled water source well fitted with a submersible pump
- Water tank stand carrying two or more water tanks
- Generator as primary power source for the submersible pump and perimeter lights
- Solar panel as secondary power source for the submersible pump and perimeter lights
- Three or more water dispensers (faucets).
- Solid brick perimeter walls accessible through an entry iron gate.
Community involvement is essential for the success of the water project. Each village (community) will be required to provide a small land area within the community for installation of the water project. Ownership of the land area provided for the project will revert to the community at the end or termination of the project. Chimnyelugo Charities and Scholarships Foundation (CCSF) will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and operation of the water project in each community. EWP is financed entirely by CCSF.
